Visiting Scholar: meet Michael Hodgson

We are proud to welcome as a visiting professor for the Padova semester of the AY 2019-2020 professor Micheal E. Hodgson, from the University of South Carolina. Professor Hodgson has been invited to teach one module of the course “Territorial development and GIS” (the other module is taught by professor Daria Quatrida), specifically the second part of the course, devoted to introduce GIS. Professor Hodgson’s module represents an important chance for the students: they can have a first practical contact with Geographic Information Systems. Through the course, students can learn how to use a GIS fpr creating and managing spatial data, creation of maps and fundamental analysis of geographic data associated with territorial sustainable development. Professor Hodgson main research interests are broadly in geographical information science with particular interest in the use of remote sensing approaches for environmental problems.
